Session is unique among messaging apps because it doesn't require an email address or phone number to create an account. This means the account deletion process works differently than you might expect. Please note that Session developers cannot help you delete your account, nor can they help you recover it.
Deleting your Session account involves removing all messages and contacts from both your device and the Session Network. Once you've deleted this data, your account can be recovered only with your recovery password. Without your recovery password, your account cannot be recovered.
Here's how to delete your Session account:
Mobile (iOS and Android)
1. Tap your profile picture in the top-left corner to open Settings
2. Scroll down and select "Clear Data"
3. You will be presented with two options: "Clear device only" and "Clear device and network". Select "Clear device and network"
4. All Session-related data has now been erased from your device and from the Session Network, and you can delete the app.
Desktop
1. Click the gear icon (⚙️) to open Settings
2. Select "Clear Data"
