If you are an admin of a group chat, you are able to clear the chat history for all members, across all devices. This will delete all messages from the swarm and cannot be undone.
You also have the option to clear all messages from that group chat from your device only, which will not delete messages for any other group chat members.
If you are not an admin, you can still clear all messages from that group chat from your device only.
Here's how:
iOS
- Open the group chat you want to delete all messages from.
- Tap the display picture icons in the top right-hand corner to open the group settings.
- Scroll down and select "Clear All Messages".
- If you want to delete all messages for all members on all devices, select "Clear for everyone". If you want to delete all messages for your device only, select "Clear on this device" (if you are not an admin, this is the only option you will see).
- Tap "Clear" to confirm.
Android
- Open the group chat you want to delete all messages from.
- Tap the display picture icons in the top right-hand corner to open the group settings.
- Scroll down and select "Clear All Messages".
- If you want to delete all messages for all members on all devices, select "Clear for everyone". If you want to delete all messages for your device only, select "Clear on this device" (if you are not an admin, this is the only option you will see).
- Tap "Clear" to confirm.
Desktop
Note: It is currently not possible to delete all messages for group chats on Desktop right now.
