The recovery password is a mnemonic seed (of 13 words) that can be used to restore an existing Session Account to a new device. Session doesn’t have a central server storing information about your identity, so restoring your account using the traditional username/password method is not possible.
If someone else gains access to your recovery password, it means they will be able to gain access to your Session Account, so be sure you store the recovery phrase in a safe place!
We recommend keeping a copy of these words either in a secure digital note (like a password manager) or written down on a piece of paper.
Remember — the order of the words in your recovery phrase is crucial. However you store it, ensure that you can reconstruct it in the same order in which it was provided.
