Session is designed at it's core to keep your communication private, secure, and anonymous.
Session’s code is open-source and freely available for independent audit at any time. Recently, Session had a security audit completed by Quarkslab. The results of the Quarkslab security audit can be found here
When you use Session, the messages you send and the messages you receive are end-to-end encrypted via a network of over 1,800 service nodes, and the Account ID you use to communicate is not linked to any real world information like a phone number or email address.
When you use Session, your messages are sent to their destinations through a decentralised onion routing network, using a system we call onion requests. Onion requests protect user privacy by ensuring that no single server ever knows a message’s origin and destination. For more on how this works, you can read our blog, What is an onion routing network?
Session is a project of the Oxen Privacy Tech Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to provide the world with better access to digital privacy technology.
